The Petal Knight

Emblem worn proudly upon their armor, a duelist wearing the colors of a rose investigates the events of a plague sweeping the land. They typically travel alongside clerics and paladins who may aid their attempts to heal the land.

Petal Knights are proud warriors who tow the line between sorcerers and duelists. Wearing light weaponry and holding themselves to a code of ethics they swear by, these combatants forge a connection with the world that allows them to draw out their own nature in the form of an epithet: a flower that represents their heart and soul. Commonly, they use their natural magical powers to protect nature and those who abide by it, championing justice, order, and coexistence with the land.

This class is a pact magic class, which aims to protect order and balance in the world.

The Petal Knight can be found at the link above! Just click on the emblem!

Epithets Expanded

This document contains five new subclasses for the Petal Knight, each based on another flower that represents the shape of their soul. They are:

  • The Black Rose, a hunter who diverges from the honorable image of the Petal Knight. They can utilize heavier equipment.
  • Coral Rose, warriors with various tricks that help them ambush and outsmart others. They are the image of undeniable pursuit.
  • Gardenia, pure warriors who can draw upon divine spells alongside their own. They are difficult to defeat, and strike back against monstrosities and aberrations.
  • Morning Glory, fleeting souls who understand the bonds between themselves and others. They use this knowledge to draw out strength.
  • Sakura, sorcerous duelists who draw upon valor to strike down others. These warriors can drain their targets of life to replenish themselves.
Apart from these new subclasses, you can find many new feats to use in your games within the book, including six "promise" feats that are meant to be used with the Petal Knight exclusively. By name alone, these feats are called
  • Berserker
  • Glorious Purpose
  • Invoke Consideration
  • Metamagical Roots
  • Promise of Certainty
  • Promise of Companionship
  • Promse of Efficacy
  • Promise of Levity
  • Promise of Planar Defense
  • Promise of Understanding
  • Tactician's Command

(The Petal Knight class was made for the Nat19: Vestige of Ophiuchus D&d 5E stream on Twitch, streamed every Saturday at 1 PM PST on the Nat19Official channel. Come join us if you'd like to see it in action!)

So I have a question about the Promise of Efficacy feat. Does the increase to crit range have a limit? I ask as I have a Pink Rose Petal Knight in mind and at level 15 they get superior critical and now crit on 18-20. Would Promise of Efficacy make them crit on a 17 now with the chosen weapon for the feat or does it stop at 18?

I don't know if this has been pointed out already, but the reduced file size version of this product has been mixed up with the base class pdf in the most recent update.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
